SI, 1 other killed as truck overturns in UP

Kanpur, Sep 6 (PTI) Two persons, including a sub-inspectorof traffic police, were today killed when a stone-laden truckoverturned and fell on them in the Ramadevi area here. The incident took place this morning when trafficin-charge SI Rajnish Kumar (54) was removing encroachment fromthe road near the Ramadevi bridge, Kanpur SP (traffic)Sarvanand Yadav said. The driver of the speeding truck lost control after itstyre burst. The truck then turned over, hitting the scooter ofSajeti village resident Rajesh Kumar (42) and the SI’s bike,he said. Both died on the spot, the senior official said. Traffic was disrupted for about an hour after theaccident. The bodies were sent for postmortem and the truck has beentaken into custody while the search for its driver is on, hesaid. PTI ZIR CK DVDIP
