Smuggler held with 8 kgs of heroin, pistol on Punjab border

Jammu, Sep 1(PTI) BSF personnel apprehended today oneperson along the Indo-Pak border in Abohar sector of Punjaband recovered eight kgs of heroin worth Rs 40 crore and apistol from his possession. Officials said the incident occurred around 2 pm when BSFpersonnel detected some suspicious movement along theInternational Border in the area under Jodhawala border. "A special search operation was launched during which BSFpersonnel recovered eight packets of contraband suspected tobe heroin along with one China-made pistol which was hiddenunder wooden logs," a BSF official said. The arrested has been identified as an Indian nationalnamed Jagtar Singh of Fazilka district. DIG BSF Abohar has instructed all the sectors andbattalions under Punjab Frontier to remain extra alert so asto effectively check activities of smugglers and anti-nationalelements on Punjab border with Pakistan.
