Rains again lash Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 1 (PTI) Heavy rains lashed the nationalcapital this morning bringing down the mercury to threenotches below normal even as the traffic and waterloggingsituation improved towards the evening. The Safdarjung observatory which had recorded 63.5 mmrainfall till 8.30 AM, recorded 5.9 mm rainfall during the daywhile the reading at Palam observatory was 18.9 mm. "The maximum temperature settled at 31 degrees Celsius,three notches below normal while the minimum was recorded at25.2 degrees Celsius, a notch below normal," a MeT officialsaid. The incessant rains contributed to high humidity levelswhich oscillated between 97 and 78 per cent. Commuters again faced a tough time in the morning rushhours. Traffic snarls were also witnessed on roads leading toGurgaon and the airport. Heavy rain affected flight operationstoo. According to the MeT department, thunderstorm withmoderate to heavy rain would occur tomorrow. The maximum temperature today is expected to hover around33 degrees Celsius and the minimum at 27 degrees Celsius. Yesterday, the city had received season’s highestrainfall with the maximum temperature settling at 30.4 degreesCelsius, four notches below normal while the minimum settledat 26 degrees Celsius.
