NABARD sanctions Rs 204.67 cr for Haryana

Chandigarh, Aug 29 (PTI) National Bank for Agricultureand Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned a loan of Rs204.67 crore under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund(RIDF) for rural infrastructure in Haryana. While stating this here today, a spokesman of NABARD saidthat out of the total loan sanctioned, Rs 147.18 crore hasbeen sanctioned to the state government under the 22ndtranche of RIDF for 2016-17 for construction of three ruralbridges, construction and upgradation of 26 rural roads in10 districts namely Ambala, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Hisar, Jind,Karnal, Mahendergarh, Panchkula, Rewari and Yamunanagar. Nabard has sanctioned Rs 57.49 crore for a 10 MW PhotoVoltaic Solar Power Plant at Panipat Thermal Power Station(PTPS), Panipat. He said that the aggregate length of the proposed threerural bridges is 329.20 m and that of proposed 26 rural roadsin 10 districts is 184.78 Km. The project aims at improving the facilities in thefield of agriculture and rural development, improve thequality of life in villages through provision of bettertransportation system and round-the-year better connectivityto villages with nearby hospitals, educational institutes,godowns and marketing centers, he said. More than 50 per cent of the State is under NationalCapital Region (NCR). This has added extra traffic load whicheventually comes to the rural roads of Haryana. Therefore, therural roads and bridges in Haryana need construction andup-gradation, he added. The spokesman said that the installation of 10 MW PVSolar Power Plant at PTPS, Panipat would generate green energywhich would have positive results for the environment and helpin fulfilling the Renewable energy purchase obligations of thestate. It is for the first time that NABARD has sanctionedthis type of project in the state of Haryana, he added. He said that with this sanction, the cumulative RIDFassistance sanctioned to the State Government under RIDF hasreached Rs 5,613.65 crore involving 4,263 projects undervarious sectors like irrigation, rural connectivity, watersupply, anganwadis, girlsÂ’ toilet blocks, veterinary hospitalsor dispensaries and solar power plant. Since inception of RIDF in 1995-96, an amount of Rs3,859.30 crore has sofar been disbursed. PTI CHSMKJ
