Roadshow in Shanghai to attract Chinese investment in tourism

New Delhi, Aug 28 (PTI) With an aim to attract Chineseparticipation in the forthcoming Tourism Summit here and itsinvestment in the sector, the Union Tourism Ministry organiseda roadshow in Shanghai, the government said today. "Never was there a more favourable time to invest inIndia than now with strong macro-economic indicators and thegovernment’s commitment to investment facilitation like neverbefore," Tourism Secretary Vinod Zutshi said while addressingthe event yesterday. Close to 20 "prominent" investors participated in theevent which was part of roadshows being conducted in differentparts of the world to promote participation of investors atthe Incredible India Tourism Investors summit, to be held herefrom September 21-23, an official release said. The Tourism Ministry is organising the summit inpartnership with Tourism Finance Corporation of India and theCII. Zutshi said the summit will bring together over 20 statesof the country unveiling more than 1,000 projects, rangingfrom infrastructure to those specific to various themes oftourism sector like hospitality, medical, entertainment andcruise. In the "true spirit of Ease of Doing business", stateswill offer single window for foreign and domestic investors,he said. Prakash Gupta, Consul General of India in Shanghai,stressed that India must have a policy for attracting Chinesetourists and investors. He also pointed out the "immense synergy" that existsbetween the two Asian neighbours in tourism sector and howChinese travellers have become the highest spenders in theworld. PTI MP NSD RGNSD
