Filmmaker attempts record for most translated documentary

Coimbatore, Aug 26 (PTI) A Hyderabad-based documentaryfilmmaker today attempted to create a Guinness World Recordfor the most translated short documentary here by releasinghis work dubbed into 15 languages. Documentary producer and director Prudhvi Raj releasedthe eight-minute documentary "Sarnath – The Sacred Place",translated in 15 languages, at an event here coordinated byChief Scientific Officer of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam ResearchCentre Subramanian. According to Subramanian, the previous record with 11translations is held by 2014-released "Lepakshi", by AndhraPradesh-based Rajendra Vinod. "Sarnath" is about the Dhamek Stupa in Uttar Pradesh,which is one of the most visited and revered Buddhist shrinesin the world, he said. The documentary has been dubbed in English, Malayalam,Gujarati, Urdu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Arabic, Oriya,Assamese, Mauritian Creole, Bhojpuri, Khortha and Bangla, hesaid.
