Sarjapur residents run for lakes creates money

Date:

Sarjapur residents held marathon to save lakes in Karnataka, at Yamere ground, near Sompura on Sunday. Nearly 700 people participated in the first-ever Sarjapur 10k marathon and the 3k family run-cum-walk. The run was to save the 26 lakes in Sarjarpura for which Zilla panchayat released the amount of 2 Lakhs, while more is in pipeline to be released.

“This summer, several residents of apartment complexes had to source water from tankers, paying exorbitant prices. Thinking about how bad the situation could get in the next few years, we decided to organise an event to know about our lakes and to revive and preserve them,” said Joy VR, secretary of the Sarjapur Residents Welfare Association (SRWA).

Former minister from Anekal, Narayana Swamy, and Bengaluru Urban Zilla Panchayat president Muniraju were present.
