Hema Malini lauds Centre’s ‘Namami Gange’ scheme

Mathura, Aug 18 (PTI) Calling the Centre’s initiative toclean the Yamuna under the ‘Namami Gange’ project as historic,actress-turned-politician Hema Malini said the river is "boundto become clean" after its completion. The work on the project worth Rs 40 crore began yesterdayin the presence of Union ministers Nitin Gadkari, Uma Bhartiand Dharmendra Pradhan. Speaking on the occasion, local MP Malini said: "Peoplehave been complaining about the pitiable condition of theYamuna. However, when the project would be completed, theriver is bound to become clean." She said she was happy that the promise made by her tosages and the citizens was finally going to materialise.
