Girl arrested for blackmailing man

Jaipur, Aug 17 (PTI) A 19-year-old college girl hailingfrom Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district was arrested for allegedlyblackmailing a man and extorting Rs 27 lakh from him. The victim, based in Gurgaon, came into contact with thegirl identified as Usha Gurjar last year in Rohtak andbefriended her. "The man came to Jaipur on August 8 and stayed in a roomwhere the girl visited him. The girl stayed with the manduring the night and next morning demanded Rs 25 lakh,threatening to tarnish his image," DCP North Anshuman Bhomiasaid. He arranged the money and gave it to her. The accused girlalso signed an affidavit that she will not blackmail him infuture. Yesterday, the girl called him and again demanded Rs 18lakh following which the victim contacted police and narratedthe incident. "She was caught by a police team yesterday when she metthe man at Narainsingh circle and placed under arrest. The mangave her Rs 2 lakh yesterday and the police team caught herwhen she was counting the notes inside the car of the victim,"Bhomia said. The girl stays at a PG hostel in Lalkothi area and is afirst-year college student. "Rs 27 lakh have been recovered from her hostel room," hesaid, adding, that she was being interrogated.
