ECI registers Goa Forward as political party

Panaji, Aug 17 (PTI) Ahead of the Goa LegislativeAssembly elections due in coming March, the ElectionCommission of India (ECI) has given its formal approval to GoaForward as a political party. "I am directed to state that Election Commission ofIndia after having considered your application dated January20, 2016 for registration of Goa Forward Party as a politicalparty and the documents produced in support of the statements,has registered the party as a political party under section 29A of the Representation of the PeopleÂ’s Act, 1951 on and witheffect from August 5, 2016," says the letter by ECIÂ’s Delhioffice. Reacting to this, party spokesman Durgadas Kamat said,"Its time to take Goa Forward. We are providing politicalalternative to the state which will fulfill aspirations oftrue Goans." He said that the party which is mentored byindependent legislator Vijai Sardesai would bring in change inthe state post-2017 polls. PTI RPSDK
