2 salesmen arrested for selling fuel at exorbitant rates

Srinagar, Aug 17 (PTI) A petrol pump was seized and two ofits salesmen were arrested today for selling fuel atexorbitant rates in Kulgam district of south Kashmir, policesaid. Police raided the petrol pump at Chowalgam, 70 km fromhere, after receiving complaints that the owner was sellingdiesel and petrol at exorbitant rates, a police spokesmansaid. He said the police party found that the petrol pump ownerwas selling diesel at the rate of Rs 55.33 per litre andpetrol at the rate of Rs 65.47 per litre which was higher thanthe market value of Rs 53.70 per litre for diesel and Rs 63.64per litre for petrol. The petrol pump was seized and two salesmen were arrested. The owners of the petrol pump – Farooq Ahmad and MukhtarAhmad – fled. A case has been registered, the spokesman said. PTI MIJ TAMRJ ZMNMRJ
