Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kartar Singh Tanwar has been found guilty of possessing unaccounted income worth a whopping 130 Crores by the Income Tax (IT) Department.
In an earlier raid, the IT department had taken hold of unaccounted cash as well as jewellery adding up to nearly Rs. 1 crore from Tanwar and his brother, for which he has even been questioned twice in the past.
Tanwar claims the raids to be an attacking strategy of the BJP-led Central government. Before beginning his venture with AAP in 2014, Tanwar himself had been a member of the BJP Party.
The new raid is revealing many shenanigans pulled off by the MLA. Kartar Singh is now being accused of multiple frauds, that lead up to his excess collection of accumulated, unaccounted wealth.
The IT department sources reveal all transaction for his purchasing farm houses in Chattarpur and Ghitorni were done in cash by him and his associates.
Also, Tanwar is charged for deceiving the Delhi Government, as he had not paid for stamp duty and registration fee on huge land transactions.
There are also additional claims that he was manipulating his book of accounts. He was framing the money from the land transactions as loans and advances in the 30-35 companies that he was controlling.
Also, a large number of files showing unaccounted properties were found in the raid.
The IT department is now investigating Tanwar’s unexplained squandering of money over the construction of a mall, various residential houses, as well as marriage expenses, now giving rise to the possibility of tax evasion.
