Running bulls gore 6 men, on 2nd day of San Fermin festival in Spain

Date:

The famous Spanish San Fermin festival commenced on Thursday, and will carry on for a whole week. While the massive event is thrilling, but it can also be lethally dangerous, as thousands of people wearing red scarfs are chased by half a dozen wild bulls, on the streets of Pamplona. Is is only the second day, and six men were gored today by the crazed-out beasts.

Two of the people were gravely injured, one in the chest and one in the belly.
The run usually lasts for about 3 to 5 minutes, but it is enough time for the 6 ferocious beasts to sometimes cause fatal damage. The featured bulls belonged to the Cebada Gago ranch of Medina Sidonia, known for its especially well-bred and robust produces.

Though there are many bull-related festivities in Spain, during summers, San Fermin is the most famous of all and attracts participants from even far off countries such as the United States and Australia.

The festival is held in the honour of the locally honoured Saint Fermin, and was first made famous by Ernest Hemingway, in his acclaimed novel- The Sun Also Rises.
