Morning flights cancelled at Srinagar airport due to dense fog

Air traffic was hit in the Valley as foggy conditions continued for the second day, resulting in cancellation of all morning flights to and fro Srinagar International Airport, officials said.

“No flight could operate so far. We have cancelled all the morning flights due to the poor visibility,” an official of the Airport Authority of India said.

She said the air traffic will resume once the weather improves.

“All the passengers were informed about thecancellation of the morning flights,” the official said.

Airport authorities had cancelled all the 21 flights, scheduled for yesterday, due to poor visibility as a think layer of fog engulfed the valley, leaving hundreds of passengers including tourists stranded.

The foggy conditions persisted for the second daytoday, but not as powerful as was witnessed yesterday,disrupting normal activities.

The minimum temperature recorded in the summer capital Srinagar was 0.9 degrees Celsius, a MeT official said.

He said a Western Disturbance (WD) is expected to hitthe region on November 26 and might help end the prevailingfoggy conditions.
