Gurgaon: In a major breakthrough, a team of Gurgaon district administration raided several places in village Garhi Harsaru of Gurgaon on Saturday and cracked down on sellers of spurious ‘Desi Ghee.’
The search team included Drug Control Officer Amandeep Chauhan, Food Safety Officer N D Sharma and Police Inspector Mahender.
According to the Deputy Commissioner T L Satyaprakash, the team conducted surprise raids in two Factory premises where ‘Bhattis’ were installed for preparing spurious Desi Ghee using partially hydrogenated vegetable cooking oil such as Vanaspati Ghee and Dalda Ghee as these are cheaper than pure Desi Ghee.
All these locations were near railway station of village Garhi Harsaru. Loose spurious Ghee weighing about one quintal, loose pouches of 1Kg and 2 Kg and drums of Ghee were seized by the team from these locations during the raid and samples were taken for tests.
However, the defaulters fled the location before the police arrived and no arrests could be made. All the locations were sealed and FIR was lodged against the unknown accused.
“By preparing spurious Desi Ghee, these accused were playing with the health of the general masses so strict legal action will be taken against them,” Deputy Commissioner T L Satyaprakash said.
“Since Desi Ghee is widely used and consumed in Haryana, the accused were earning huge profits,” he added.
