‘Our actions must be in tune with our vision’: PM tells IAS officers

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday urged the IAS officers to bring a positive change in the society.

“You are moving towards a new responsibility. You all must have a feeling that we have to prove ourselves. You might want to bring changes, but there are those who are stuck in traditions who try to stop you,” Prime Minister Modi said in his address to the IAS officers of the 2013 batch.

“You will have 10 years to make changes. Rest of the time you might get stuck in pushing files. These 10 years are very crucial for you. Make the most of these 10 years and ensure your foundations are strong,” he added.

He pointed out that the IAS officers will manage several districts across India and said the positive change that they would bring will be beneficial for the nation.

“You will handle 1/5th districts in the next 10 years. You can change the fate of the country. Contact people, who have worked in districts in the past and retired. Enrich yourself with their experience. They have a lot of ideas and suggestions. They may not have been able to implement it in their times, use their experience,” he added.

Tensions and struggles do not bring change, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today as he asked the young IAS officers to bring about positive change that will benefit the nation.

“Tensions and struggles don’t bring change. It is about how many people to integrate,” he added.

These IAS officers for the first time started their career as Assistant Secretaries from the national capital, rather than their respective states allocated to them as cadres. They have been assigned important desks related with policy and flagship programmes of the concerned ministries and departments.
