Maruti’s WagonR now with auto gear shift

Date:

New Delhi: Indian car giant Maruti has launched the Auto Gear Shift version, in its iconic family car Wagon R and its upgraded version Stingray.

The new variants will be available with the Vxi trims. The base price of Wagon R starts at Rs 4.76 lacs while that of Stingray is tagged at Rs 4.98 lacs.

Aesthetically, both the cars have not undergone any change though the company has upgraded the safety features. The safety aspects of both the cars now boast of passenger and driver side airbags as well as ABS, all of which will be offered as optional features across the complete variant line up of these cars. The only notable change in the cars will be AMT gear level on the inside and also the AGS badging on the tailgate outside. The AMT gearbox, mated to the 1.0 litre K-next engine promises to deliver optimized mileage, thanks to the newly calibrated ECU. The car is pegged at 20.51kmpl of fuel efficiency that stands similar to the manual version. The engine continues to churn out power of 67bhp at 6200rpm with a maximum torque of 90Nm @3500rpm.

Executive Director Marketing and Sales, MSIL, Mr. R.S Khalsi commented on the launch saying that Wagon R has remained one of the strongest brands from the company’s portfolio apart from being one of the top five selling cars in India. He further brought to notice that Wagon R is the third car in the line-up of Auto Gear Shift Technology introduced in the company’s portfolio, after Alto K10 and Celerio.

Other features of both WagonR and Stingray remain the same.

On the inside, the car gets the usual two-tone beige and black interiors complete with dual tone 3D effect upholstery, keyless central door locks, electronic power steering, rotary AC controls and AC with heater.

The Auto Gear Shift coupled with the Intelligent Shift Control Actuator automatically performs the shift and clutch operations. It further optimizes the engine’s ECU calibration and aids to better fuel efficiency.
