Ignoring ‘Bihari babu’ cost NDA defeat: Shotgun

Date:

Firing salvos at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership, senior leader Shtrughan Sinha on Sunday said ignoring him in Bihar indeed cost his party a humiliating defeat.

“You removed deserving people. You kept ‘Bihari Babu’ away from Bihar, even as he had predicted the writings on the wall,” said Sinha, adding that he had warned the party to refrain from negative politics, but he was ignored.

He, however, said the time was not to scratch wounds, but to apply ointment on it.

“Time never runs out in politics. If we prepare well, we can come more strongly, and this can be our last defeat. No win or loss is permanent,” he added.

“I am sad, but the party needs to analyse reasons. There is a need to carry out introspections into the debacle. All reasons need to be probed properly, and action must be taken,” he said.

“I have heard that action will be taken against me, but for what? I have never indulged in any anti-party activity,” he said.

The grand alliance is heading towards a clear majority. Results and trends available so far show that the alliance has bagged 13 seats and is ahead in 127. The BJP-led NDA has won two seats and is leading in 61 seats. Independent and others have bagged one seat and are leading in seven.
