Coe offers to be questioned over IAAF scandal, says spokesman

Date:

IAAF president Sebastian Coe asked to be questioned over a corruption scandal involving his predecessor Lamine Diack when police raided the world body headquarters, a spokesman told AFP on Wednesday.

“Sebastian Coe volunteered to be questioned by police,” Chris Turner, a spokesman for the International Association of Athletics Federations said.

Diack, 82, has been charged with corruption, money laundering and conspiracy in a case which investigation sources said involved the taking of bribes to cover up doping cases.

Former British middle distance legend Coe took over as IAAF president in August, replacing Diack who had led the world body since 1999.
