Deendayal Upadhyaya was opposed to Hindu-Muslim unity, says RSS magazine

Date:

In what may turn out to be the trigger behind another raging controversy, a magazine associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), Rashtra Dharma, says that Sangh ideologue Deendayal Upadhyaya was opposed to ‘Hindu-Muslim unity’

In an article titled ‘Muslim Samasya: Deendayal Ji Ki Drishti Mein’, which appeared in its special edition, the article says that the Upadhyaya believed that such unity was ‘irrelevant’ and only directed at Muslim-appeasement, reports the Indian Express.

The article even goes on to say that “a person turns an enemy of the nation after becoming a Muslim”. The article attributes controversial views to Upadhyaya. It claims that he believed that while Muslims may be good individually, he is “bad in a group”, and a Hindu, who may be bad individually, is “good as part of a group”.

Not stopping there, the article then says that Muslims still dream of restoring the Mughal rule, and Pakistan was their medium to reach that end. The author, Dr Mahesh Chandra Sharma, claims that the mentality of Muslims could not be changed without defeating Pakistan ‘politically’.

The magazine was established by Upadhyaya himself. Interestingly, Union Minister Kalraj Mishra had released the special edition of the magazine, which contains the provocative views.

Earlier, last month controversial Union Minister Mahesh Sharma had said that the centre was trying to realise the dream of Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, and had decided to set up a nucleus to propagate his ideology and philosophy.
