BSF seizes 12 Kg heroin at Attari border

Attari: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Wednesday seized 12 kilograms of heroin at Attari town of Punjab bordering Pakistan.

The narcotic substance was seized during a joint operation between the BSF and Punjab Police at an agricultural zone near Pakistan border.

“Today a joint operation was carried out in collaboration with the counter intelligence team of Punjab police. Intelligence team shared the information with us (Border Security Force). The operation was a successful one where we have seized 12 kilogram of heroin,” said a BSF official, Sumer Singh.

The consignment of drug was pushed to India from Pakistan through barbed fencing during the wee hours.

The patrolling troops noticed some movement and challenged the smugglers at the border but they succeeded in escaping.

So far no arrests have been made. Investigation was underway.

On October 10, BSF had seized 11 kilogram of heroin, worth 550 million rupees, from two different districts of the state.

On September 19, a joint team of Border Security Force (BSF) and Customs officials recovered 23 kilogram heroin worth Rs. 115 crores in the international market at Tehkala border outpost of Amritsar Sector.
