Mozilla releases preview of new Firefox browser for iOS

Date:

Mozilla has released the first public preview of its Firefox browser for iOS. The public preview is available only to the users in New Zealand.

Mozilla has put this limitation so that it can gather feedback before taking it to a few more countries ahead of any public launch.

The organisation wants to hear from the users about three key features:

1. Intelligent search – which provides suggested search results
2. Firefox Accounts – which allows the users to sync their browser history, passwords and tabs from their desktop to their iOS device and
3. Visual Tabs – which displays thumbnails of all the pages they are browsing.

Mozilla already offers Firefox on Android, but the OS makes up just a sliver of total Web traffic on mobile, easily surpassed by Google’s Chrome browser and Apple’s Safari, according to data from StatCounter.

Mozilla wants to release Firefox to the App Store globally later this year.
