Rush hour shootout at MG road in Gurgaon

Date:

Gurgaon: The residents of Gurgaon were in for a rude shock when a shootout happened on a busy street — on MG Road  outside the Central Mall in Gurgaon, just ahead of IFFCO Chowk, a major landmark in the area.

“One person was killed and another was injured”, ACP Rajesh Kumar told a leading news agency.

The man who was shot was identified as Rakesh who is an under trial and was on bail. While Rakesh escaped unhurt, his driver was hit by a bullet following which he lost control over the car causing it to topple over an autorickshaw standing nearby. The driver of the auto was crushed to death on the spot, police said. The gunmen were in a Santro and have reportedly escaped.

Reports say it could be a case of gang rivalry in the millennium city.

The area is a commercial one, with the MGF Plaza, DT City Centre and Central mall dotting the skyline. Also in the vicinity are residential condominiums Beverley Park, Heritage city and Essel Towers in Gurgaon.

The shooting led to an accident and a massive traffic jam.

Pictures posted on social media show a large crowd outside the popular Central Mall.
