Washington: So, there are sweeping changes that the company is making. It might be a social networking giant, but it doesn’t hesitate to experiment.
It seems a lot of things are happening at Twitter Inc after the social media giant’s CEO stepped down last week.
In its latest blog, the social media company stated that it is test driving a new feature to encourage its users to spend more on Twitter.
Twitter is going to start dedicated product pages, featuring images, videos, product descriptions, pricing information, and e-commerce integration.
The new pages will organise related tweets about products and brands on dedicated pages. The product page will let people see others’ tweets about that product, prices.
These product pages can be aggregated into “collectionsâ€, which are associated with a company’s main Twitter handle and can be accessed via a new “Browse Collection†button on a profile page.
Last year, Twitter unveiled a ‘Buy’ button to users, but the one-click purchasing option was only available on some promoted tweets.
The implementation of product and place pages seems to be part of an effort to get users to think of Twitter as a shopping destination, and as a resource for information about the products they’re interested in buying.
Featured collections announced on Sunday includes Beats by Dre, Target Swimwear among others.
This is the second new feature Twitter has unveiled this week after announcing Project Lightning, a news platform that would allow users to follow events instead of people.
Collections and product pages have started to roll out on web, iOS, and Android. Twitter said it will be testing more commerce experiments in the coming months.
