St. Stephen’s tryst with sexual harassment

Date:

New Delhi: St Stephen’s is a very well known college under the Delhi University and makes it to the headlines regularly thanks to its high standards of education and higher cut-offs. Well, it’s back in the headlines, but this time,  for a reason it would like to stuff into the closet.

A case of sexual harassment has been registered against an assistant professor of Delhi University’s prestigious St Stephen’s college after a student filed a complaint with the police last Thursday.

The student, who was pursuing a post-doctoral thesis at the college, alleges that the assistant professor was harassing her for last two years.

She also told the police that she had taken her complaint to the college principal last December, who instead of helping her, apparently asked her to take the complaint back.

The student has claimed that due to the harassment, her academic dissertation was affected.

No arrest had been made yet, but the police said it will summon the college authorities and seek records.
