The Modi Sarkar will celebrate its first anniversary since coming into power. Now, there are a lot of brilliant things that the government has accomplished, details of which you will find in other carefully researched articles in our Modi package, but there are certain great things that this government pulled off, that have, perhaps, been under-reported. Here are some of them:
Mine it!
In one of the landmark moves for economic reforms, the Modi government managed to gather the votes of some opposition parties, to help breathe a fresh lease of life into a sector that was long ignored. Mines and Minerals Bill and the Coal Mines Bill were passed by the Rajya Sabha in March, opening up the sector to newer possibilities. As per this Bill, a system of auction for mines that supply minerals like iron ore and bauxite will be put in place.
More productivity, most productivity!
The Modi government has been on a roll since the time it came into power. And on a roll here means, working, not warming the soft leather seats reserved for the babus. Under the Modi government, the Lok Sabha registered a whopping 123 per cent productivity while Rajya Sabha too worked for 107 per cent of the scheduled time, its second best performance after 2009.
Modiiiii, Modi!
We all know how much Modi has become popular in India. But you know what, we aren’t wrong in obsessing with our Prime Minister. China’s National Image Global Survey 2014, conducted in nine countries, has placed its OWN Prime Minister Xi Jinping second in terms of being the world’s best leader. No prizes for guessing who came first. Modiiiiiiii, Modi! There, break into your own Mexican waves now!
No black, only white
The Modi government, during its election campaigns. had made one consistent promise — that all the black money affairs will be taken care of. And take care it did. The Black Bill got approved by the cabinet. Apart from confiscation, the Bill provides for prosecution and aims to act as a major avenue for blocking generation and holding of black money in the form of benami property, especially in real estate.
No tax, no NGO
So, NGOs are all selfless and all, but what happens when they evade taxes? They escape in other situations, but not when the Modi govt is keeping watch. The government cancelled licences of 1,142 erring NGOs belonging to undivided Andhra Pradesh, under which they get foreign funds, for not filing their annual returns for three consecutive years.

Modi inaugurated a Coastal Surveillance Radar Station (CSRS) that serves as a fresh pair of eyes for India in the Indian Ocean Region or IOR. India is setting up a total of eight such stations, spread out across various islands of the Seychelles. So yes, the Modi government is watching everyone.
