Wearing your heart on your sleeve shouldn’t be a bad idea at all, especially when you’re a sports person. Punjabis are known to do so, but Preity Zinta’s XI Punjabi boys seem to be on a different tangent altogether. They’re embarrassed to wear something on their sleeve and they’re making a fuss out of it.
Sound bizarre? Sounds like the bravado Punjabis are oh-so-famous for has disappeared into thin air? No, no, wait till you hear what they’re wearing on their sleeves. They’re going to be flashing condom logos. Yes, that’s right, and there’s nothing wrong in it. Not on their sleeves, exactly, but on the backs of their jerseys.
Manforce, a Delhi based company recently inked a deal with the Kings XI Punjab to become their sponsors. By this virtue, the logo will now grace the backs of the players, some of whom are sort of shy to sport it in front of a million glares. This is the first time a condom company will be featured in the big league.
Dear Punjabi mundas, a condom is an absolute normal thing, an expression to show you’re educated and responsible. There’s no need to make your cheeks go crimson about it. Plus, if they bring in the moolah. you’ve got to give them their due, right?
Look at it this way: by wearing a condom-logoed jersey, you’re promoting safety and protection to millions of young people, for whom this can be eye opening. You get to be a role model, a trend-setter, a motivator and a teacher, all by wearing that logo.
So, dear XI Punjabis Kings, don’t, just don’t be shy. You have it, flaunt it!
