Rani’s Mardaani gathers Polish acclaim

Date:

New Deli: After gathering support from critics for her performance in ‘Mardaani’, Rani Mukerji recently went on to bag critical acclaim in Poland after the flick was premiered there.

‘Mardaani’ premiered at the Kino Muranow theatre in Warsaw on Jan. 28. Kino Muranow happens to be one of the oldest art house theatres in the European country.

The film received a standing ovation from the audience and Rani was congratulated by one and all for her performance and being part of such a relevant and sensitive film.

Rani, who is currently in Poland for the premiere of the film, said: “It was a very special day as Mardaani released in Poland today..the response to the film by the polish people made the evening even more special..and it reiterates the fact that a good film finds an audience irrespective of the language in any part of the world as art doesn’t have borders or barriers. I will cherish forever the love and adulation I received today from Poland.”

“It is a great pity that because of global terrorism, people are not paying enough attention to the other problem like global human trafficking particularly of young girls. This is also a huge billions of dollars racket just like drug mafia. The trafficking of girls is not only limited to South Asian countries, it became a big racket after the fall of Berlin Wall in Eastern Europe,” the Mardaani star said.

She also spoke on global human trafficking and emphasised on how NGOs should play a role in putting a stop to the crime.

“If in the 1990s Russian girls were being used in the international market, now Ukrainian, Romanian and Syrian girls are being traded. The vultures are always on the lookout for human flesh. To meet this huge challenge there should a huge response from the NGOs all over the world,” she added.

The film, directed by Pradeep Sarkar, was loved by audiences when it released in Indian theatres last year, with many calling Mardaani Rani’s career-best performance.

The movie is slated to release on February 5, 2015 in theatres for the Polish audience.
