Dawood will be brought to justice wherever he is: MEA

Date:

Gandhinagar: India on Thursday said its stand on underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, wanted for the 1993 Mumbai blasts, was still the same and the fugitive gangster would be brought to justice wherever he is.

“Be assured that at some stage he will be brought to justice wherever he is,” Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said in response to a question about India’s stand on Ibrahim, especially after release of tapes by NewsMobile claiming his presence in Karachi.

“Our stand about Dawood Ibrahim is still the same, that he is an absconder from justice. We have not forgotten what he has done, that is the Mumbai terror attacks.

NewsMobile’s Dawood tapes revealed the Don’s voice, 20 years since it was last heard, giving orders and thriving in Pakistan’s business capital.

Asked about the missing Indians in Iraq, he said the Union Government was pursuing the matter. “We all are working on this issue. But the situation is what it was when we briefed you last time. We keep getting information from various sources that some Indian nationals are there in that region… But we don’t have any concrete information on what is their status today,” he said.

“We will never forget these people and pursue this matter. We will not give up our quest to find them. Once we verify the information, we will share it with their relatives as well as public,” added Akbaruddin.
