Modi the photographer!

Date:

Melbourne: Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a picture on his Instagram account captioning it “PM Abbott & I turned photographers!” The photograph, taken in Canberra, showed Modi and his Australian counterpart Tony Abbott laughing and playing with toddlers. It was instantly “liked” by over 8,000 people.

Modi, currently in Melbourne on his fourth-leg of a 10 day visit to Australia, opened his Instagram account last week.

Another photograph posted by foreign ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin on twitter showed the prime minister taking a picture of children with a digital camera. Akbaruddin went on to tweet ‘Lucky children, they have Prime Ministers of India & Australia attending to them’.

PM Modi  posted his first picture on the photo and video-sharing site on November 12 during his visit to Myanmar, where he attended the ASEAN-India summit. “Hello World! Great being on Instagram,” he said in his message.

The 64-year-old leader is among India’s most social media savvy politicians and has almost eight million followers on Twitter.

He has encouraged his ministers and officials to become more tech savvy and open various social media accounts.
