Take Charge Brandi wins BC Juvenile Fillies

Longshot Take Charge Brandi won the $2 million Juvenile Fillies on Saturday, giving trainer D. Wayne Lukas a 20th Breeders’ Cup victory.

The 60-1 outsider, ridden by Victor Espinoza, swept to the front out of the gate in the 1 1/16-mile race for two-year-old fillies and won by half a length over Top Decile.

Wonder Gal was third in the field of 12.

With his sixth career win in the Juvenile Fillies, Lukas extended his own record as the trainer with the most Breeders’ Cup wins.

The race on the dirt track at Santa Anita was the first of nine races on Saturday, the second day of the 13-race, $25 million Breeders’ Cup extravaganza.
