Tennis star Bouchard back for Hopman Cup

Date:

Canada’s world number seven Eugenie Bouchard will return to play in January’s mixed teams Hopman Cup in Perth, tournament organisers said Thursday.

The 20-year-old who reached her first Grand Slam final at this year’s Wimbledon after making the semi-finals at the Australian and French Opens, will partner Vasek Pospisil in the Canadian team at the event from January 4-10.

“I had a great time this year and I think it’s a great event to kind of transition from the off-season to competitive playing,” Bouchard said.

Bouchard joins Andy Murray and Australia’s Nick Krygios as confirmed starters in the round-robin event involving teams from Australia, Czech Republic, Italy, Poland, United States, France, Great Britain and Canada.
