Opposition Bugs govt over bugging

Date:

New Delhi: Reports of NSA targeting the BJP and its key leaders have once again surfaced after reports flooded media channels of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari being bugged. The whispers that were later squashed have resurfaced on Tuesday with External Affairs minister Sushma Swaraj and Home minister Rajnath Singh rumoured to be bugged.

BJP have remained silent on the issue except for the blunt Subramanium Swamy who has more than hinted of the US spy agency NSA’s involvement. This will prove to be a strong contingent in talks with Sushma Swaraj even as the US Secretary of State John Kerry visits India for a meet he called as an imperative to solve some of world’s greatest challenges.Kerry further said that the relationship with an “indispensable” India could potentially transform.

Earlier this month classified documents leaked by whistle-blower Edward Snowden were published which revealed the US government had authorised NSA to spy on Narendra Modi’s BJP, amongst several other political organisations of the world.

India in turn summoned a senior US diplomat in the Capital to explain reports and to seek assurances that it would not reoccur. The country is seeking growing ties with the US as it realises the partnerships importance.

The two countries have increasing sought to become closer in a time of growing dissidence in the world especially as Modi visits President Barack Obama on September 30.
