Mumbai: The unique feature of the Railway Budget will be the proposal for a bullet train linking Mumbai and Ahmedabad. This is in keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Diamond Quadrilateral of bullet trains linking Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata and Chennai. Â
This high speed train proposal will get a push in the Railway Budget. The Japan International Consortium is expected to complete the feasibility report by 2015. The Railways are keen on public-private partnership, with Maharashtra and Gujarat as stake holders.
The train is expected to clock 320 kmph and cover 534 km between the two cities.
