Biarritz sign southern hemisphere duo

Date:

Relegated Biarritz have signed New Zealand’s Bryn Evans and Australian Rod Davies, the Pro D2 French club confirmed on Tuesday.

Former Hurricanes and Blues lock Evans, 29, has played for three seasons with London Irish, and arrives on a one-year deal at the south western side which is now coached by Ireland’s Eddie O’Sullivan.

Evans has two caps for New Zealand in 2009 against France.

Fullback Davies, 25, also plays on wing, and will join Biarritz on a two-year deal after finishing the Super 15 season with Queensland Reds.

Nicknamed ‘The Rocket’ Davies has one cap for Australia.

Biarritz were relegated from the elite Top 14 after a horrendous campaign and will play in the second division next season.

Despite a budget of 11.7 million euros which will put them among the Pro D2 big hitters the club is rebuilding following the departure of several top players.
