New Delhi: It was a face-saving for Bhishma Pitama, who said he won’t budge, when Rajnath Singh announced, “Advani-ji can choose to contest from Bhopal or Gandhinagar. It is his choice, it’s wrong to say he has been sidelined.” It is learnt that RSS worked out the formula so that he could exit without much loss of honour and toe the party line.
In another dramatic turn of event, Jaswant Singh has demand the constituency of his choice – Barmer in Rajasthan. He has reportedly warned the party that he will fight the Lok Sabha elections as an Independent, if he is not allowed to contest from Barmer. Â
Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje reportedly wants Colonel Sona Ram, the senior Congress leader who has just defected to BJP, to fight from there. Col Sona Ram belonged to the anti-Gehlot faction in Rajasthan Congress. A formal announcement will be made on Friday, top BJP sources said.
But these antics just ahead of the elections will damage the party that has promised to provide a stable and strong government. BJP, however, dismissed reports of a possible rebellion within its ranks. Â
