SP MLA thrashes doctors

Date:

Kanpur: There seems to be no end to the Samajwadi Party muscle power in UP. The latest in the series is the clash between SP MLA Irfan Solanki and junior doctors of prestigious Ganesh Shanker Vidhyarthi Memorial Medical College in Kanpur. In the latest report, Solanki’s supporters and police reportedly broke into the college premises and assaulted the students, beating them with iron rods, hockey sticks and even throwing some students from the second floor of the building.

“Our students have done nothing wrong, it’s just the political conspiracy and a move to showcase their muscle power. Their move was really terrorising and created chaos all over the campus,” said Arati Lalchandani, President, local IMA, and HOD Medicine Department.

“They damaged all the hostels, vehicles, hospital and are still chasing students. Students have suffered severe injuries and a few have been admitted to hospital. We are staging an All India protest supported by 2.8 lakh doctors all over the country,” she added.

On Friday night, Solanki reportedly started beating the students after an argument. Enraged, he allegedly ordered to open fire on the students in which two final year students were injured. Sources say the police also sided with the SP MLA. Akhilesh Yadav government has been dogged by allegations of such incidents of his party MLA’s law less behaviour.
