India is witnessing a rise in its cases and the health authorities and all the other concerned authorities are constantly working on the availability of services and resources for maximum efficacy in times of crisis.
Here are the key takeaways from the Health Ministry’s briefing today-
– 549 new cases and 17 new deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours.
Total number of confirmed cases: 5,734
Total number of discharged/cured cases: 473
Total number of deaths: 166
– Under ‘Adopt a Family’ campaign in Karnal (Haryana), 13,000 needy families are being given the help of Rs 64 lakh.
– Supplies of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), masks, and ventilators have now begun. 20 domestic manufacturers in India have been developed for PPEs, orders for 1.7 crore PPEs have been placed and the supplies have begun. 49,000 ventilators have also been ordered.
– Health Ministry has formed high-level multidisciplinary teams to support states and UTs in ventilator management.

– Railways have deployed more than 2,500 doctors and 35,000 paramedics staff. Their chain of 586 health units, 45 sub divisional hospitals, 56 divisional hospitals, 8 production unit hospitals and 16 zonal hospitals are dedicating their significant facilities to fight the pandemic.
– In order to prepare 80,000 isolation beds, Indian railways are converting 5,000 coaches into isolation units, of which 3,250 have been converted.
– Railways will be introducing 109 parcel trains in 58 routes in a bid to ensure the supply of essential commodities.
– Hydroxychloroquine should be used as per protocol. This medicine can cause cardiac irregularities. Only those people who need to use it should use it.
– 1,30,000 samples have been tested so far. Out of these 5,734 samples tested positive till date. Positivity rate ranges between 3-5% in the last 1-1.5 months. It has not increased substantially. Yesterday we tested 13,143 samples: Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
