US President Donald Trump is planning a visit to India sometime in February.
Sources to NewsMobile have confirmed that a visit of the US President is indeed being planned out and he is expected to pay his first visit to India.
Economic issues will be the main agendum that will be discussed and an agreement is expected in this regard.
The security and logistics teams from the US will arrive in Delhi later this week to start making the preparations for the visit.
The President is expected to visit India sometime around February 24th, provided the US senate is not considering the removal petition of the President. The dates are expected to be fixed accordingly.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump had a telephone call on January 7th. The visit discussed, according to sources.
Foreign Secretary (Designate) Harsh Vardhan Shringla is also said to have discussed the matter during his farewell call on President Trump. He is expected to work on this visit, immediately after assuming office.
A trade deal is in the process of being signed. Negotiations begun in November 2018; however, it came to a stand -still.
The US suspended India’s preferential export GSP status in June 2019.
All issues pertaining to data localisation bill, e-commerce regulations, granting US airport ground handling access have been sorted out.
The two sides are keenly exploring a deal related to civil aviation that is expected to be signed.
India-US ties have been challenging in recent times. It received a boost when Prime Minister Modi visited the US in September 2019.
