New Delhi: Heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has led to the closure of 281 roads, including National Highway 305, as reported by the State Emergency Operation Centre on Sunday.
The persistent downpour has also caused disruptions to 177 water supply schemes.
Earlier, the State Disaster Management Authority reported a distressing toll of 367 lives lost due to rain-related incidents in the state this year since the monsoon’s arrival. Additionally, the state has experienced a huge monetary loss of around Rs. 12,000 crore.
As per the report, approximately seven people per day have tragically lost their lives in rain-related incidents within the state. Landslides and flash floods have claimed 136 lives, while road accidents and other factors have led to 231 casualties.
Over the past few weeks, Himachal Pradesh has been experiencing intense rainfall, leading to a series of devastating incidents. The state has witnessed tragic loss of life and extensive damage to both property and infrastructure due to multiple rain-related catastrophes, such as landslides, cloudbursts, flash floods, etc.
