PM Modi:Government Proposal On Suspending Farm Laws Stands

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in an all party meeting of floor leaders in Parliament on Saturday said that the government’s proposal of suspending the implementation of three farm laws still stands. This statement comes amidst the ongoing farmers protests at Delhi border.

PM Modi said, “Should be found through dialogue” and that “we all have to think about the nation.” The Union government has been trying to break the impasse with farmers since the last few months but without any breakthrough.

These comments come in after Ghulam Nabi Azad of the Congress, Trinamool Congress’s Sudip Bandopadhyaya, Shiv Sena’s Vinayak Raut and Shiromani Akali Dal’s Balwinder Singh Bhunder brought up the issue about the long agitation by farmers’ unions on Delhi’s borders.

20 opposition parties had stayed away from President Ram Nath Kovind’s address to a joint sitting of parliament on Friday. While opposition parties condemned the violence, they also demanded an investigation into the farmer’s tractor rally on Republic Day and protestors barging into Red Fort.

Farmers have been protesting against the three farm laws implemented by the BJP led Centre and have been demanding a rollback on the three laws. While the Uttar Pradesh and Haryana administrations have given orders to clear the site of farmer’s protests, though farmers are adamant of continuing their ongoing protests.
