Amazon India to hire 20,000 temporary staff
E-commerce major Amazon India on Sunday said it is offering close to 20,000 ‘seasonal’ or temporary employment opportunities in its customer service section to help customers in India and globally with a seamless online shopping experience. The new temporary positions are open in Hyderabad, Pune, Coimbatore, Noida, Kolkata, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Mangaluru, Indore, Bhopal and Lucknow.

Show cause notice to AirAsia after pilot alleges safety violations
The aviation regulator DGCA has issued a show cause notice to AirAsia India two weeks after one of its pilots alleged violations of safety norms by the low-cost airline. A pilot with AirAsia India Captain Gaurav Taneja had alleged that he has been suspended by AirAsia India “for standing up for safe operations of an aircraft and its passengers. He had released a video on his popular YouTube channel to detail these allegations.

Deadline to bid for Air India extended by two months till August 31
The government has extended the deadline to bid for Air India for the third time, till August 31, due to the Covid-19 pandemic which has impacted global economies. The divestment process for the national carrier was initiated on January 27. The earlier deadline for submitting of bids was June 30.

H&M India sales fall 74% during March-May quarter
Swedish fast-fashion retailer Hennes & Mauritz (H&M) reported a 74% decline in sales in India for the quarter ended May 2020, as most of the stores remained shut for nearly two months in the quarter. Globally, the group’s net sales declined 50% as stores were temporarily closed in many markets.

Auto sales may see 25-45 percent drop in Q1
Car and bike makers could report the worst demand decline in almost three decades in the three months to June, with wholesale dispatches and retail sales of passenger vehicles (cars and UVs) contracting drastically in the quarter. This period has coincided the strict lockdown to prevent the coronavirus from spreading which was eased on June 8. The industry could see an overall decline of 25-45% in Q1.
