A picture of former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi addressing soldiers is being shared on social media.

Claims are being made that the picture was clicked in Galwan valley in Ladakh.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found that the claim attached to the picture is false.

On putting the picture through Reverse Image Search, we found the same picture on a website that claims that the picture was taken in Leh in 1971.

We then ran a search again with relevant keywords and found the original picture on the website of PTI.

 

Moreover, the distance between Leh and Galwan valley is approximately 200km.

Hence, based on our fact-check, we can conclude that the post in question is misleading.
