Fact Check: Statement related to Rohingya Muslims falsely attributed to Shah Rukh Khan

A picture post is doing the rounds on social media suggesting that Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan has slammed the Modi-government for not paying enough attention to Rohingya Muslims.

The text on the picture in Hindi read: ‘मोदी सरकार रोहिंग्या मुसलमानों पर भी ध्यान दे,नहीं तो लोगो का सरकार से विश्वास उठ जाएगा- शाहरुख़ खान, बॉलीवुड अभिनेता’

(Translation: Modi government should also pay attention to Rohingya Muslims, otherwise people will lose faith in the government- Shahrukh Khan, Bollywood actor)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post and found it to be FAKE.

Firstly, we noticed a website on the picture (orientaltimes.in) and visited the given website, which was unreachable.

Further, we put the above statement through a Google search along with keywords such as ‘Shah Rukh Khan,’ ‘शाहरुख़ खान’, ‘बॉलीवुड’ etc, and did not find any authentic report to prove that Shah Rukh Khan made the above statement.

Taking our investigation further, we put the statement through Twitter and there was no tweet close to the one in question.

We also scanned through Shah Rukh Khan’s official Twitter handle (@iamsrk) and SRK did not make any statement related to Rohingya Muslims.

In conclusion, upon analysing all our discoveries, it is safe to say that the statement in question is being falsely attributed to Bollywood actor, Shah Rukh Khan.
