COVID-19 | Delhi is witnessing a surge in cases, but nothing to worry about: CM Kejriwal

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that Delhi is witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases, but there is nothing to worry about since they are fully prepared.

“Delhi is witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases, we accept it. But there is nothing to worry about, I assure you that we are fully prepared. We cannot be in a permanent lockdown”, Kejriwal said in his media briefing.

“It is a matter of concern but it is nothing to be scared of. I assure you that your government is four steps ahead of Coronavirus”, he added.

He said that they have procured large number of beds and out of the total cases, only 2,100 are in the hospitals, the rest are undergoing treatment at their homes.

He said that 6,500 beds are ready till date and 9,500 beds will be ready by another week.

“In 15 days, cases went up by 8,500 but only 500 people were admitted in hospitals”, he said.

He also said that they are developing an app for people to give information about bed availability in hospitals.

Kejriwal said that there are 17,386 COVID-19 cases in Delhi, out of which 9,142 are active, 7,846 have been cured/discharged/migrated, and 398 have died.
