A nightmarish situation for a Russian tourist, his pregnant wife, and his three-year-old son who have been struck in Dwarka since India imposed its lockdown since March 23, has now been converted into a situation which is manageable with the assistance rendered by the local population and the government.

Zyuzin Vitaly, the Russian citizen has expressed his gratitude to the local administration and the people.

He said: “Since my wife is pregnant, the administration has made arrangements for our food and medical check-up. We feel safe here and wish to leave only after things get normal. We thank the government for taking care of us during the lockdown”, a government release quoted him.

The district administration is providing regular medical care for his wife and one of the local travel agents has provided the first floor of his house for the couple to reside.

The tourist arrived in India in October 2019 and visited many religious places of worship before arriving in Dwarka.

They were supposed to leave Dwarka for Delhi on March 26 and then onwards to Russia on April 1.

However, the lockdown imposed by the government of India impeded their travel plans back home.

Dwarka in Gujarat has so far reported zero cases of COVID-19.
