The Mumbai Police on Monday interrogated Republic TV editor-in-chief, Arnab Goswami, for over 11 hours at the N M Joshi Marg police station.
He was interrogated over his comments wherein he criticised Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s silence over the recent lynching of sadhus in Palghar.
After his interrogation, Goswami said, “Made it absolutely clear that I stand by my statements, completely confident that truth will prevail on this.”
Arnab went in for the interrogation at around 9 am and only came out of the police station after 9 pm.
Earlier in a statement, the Republic Media Network confirmed that its Editor-in-Chief has been interrogated by Mumbai police since 9 am, and he is cooperating with the investigation.
“The network notes with deep disappointment that despite his requests, the two Congress members who attacked him and Samyabrata Ray, Editor republic TV, have been freed on Rs 15,000 bail,” the statement read.
“The attack on Arnab was a pre-planned Congress conspiracy and the police has flatly refused to register either assault or conspiracy. Mumbai police should not do such a brazen coverup. For all those who have been calling us, Arnab is at the police station and being interrogated still as we write,” it added.
Meanwhile, the two individuals arrested on charges of attacking Arnab and his wife have been granted bail by the Bhoiwada Court.
Arnab has steadfastly maintained that the two are Youth Congress workers who had been directed by their higher-ups to carry out the attack.
The Republic TV had on Sunday reported that the Mumbai police had sent Arnab two notices within a span of 12 hours seeking to immediately interrogate him over his comments against Sonia Gandhi.
Arnab was granted three-week protection from arrest by the Supreme Court in cases pertaining to his on-air criticism of Gandhi.
