This is expected to boost the agricultural sector amidst the lockdown that is being experienced.

The IMD has also given the dates of the South-West monsoon and the places it will hit along the course of its journey across the northern plains.

It is expected to arrive in Kerala on June 1 and reach the national capital by June 27.

The IMD issues two notifications regarding the strength of the monsoon, once in April and then June after analysing the temperatures that influence the conventional rainfalls.

The South-west monsoon covers almost 80% of the total monsoon in India.

The monsoon rainfall is crucial for the agriculture sector, which is the backbone of the economy.
