Fact check: This video of students protesting is not from JNU, it’s from Pakistan

A video is being shared online where some students can be seen shouting ‘sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamare dil mein hai’ by Bismil Azimabadi and claims are being made that they are JNU students protesting against NCR and CAA.

“Jnu students protesting against Nrc and cab, ” the caption read.

At the time of filing the report, the above post was shared by more than 6,500 Facebook users.

FACT CHECK 

When NewsMobile fact-checked the video, we found that the video from Pakistan.

We took the keyframes of the video and put them through Reverse Image Search and found the same video on Twitter.

Shiraz Hassan, a Pakistani journalist uploaded this video on Twitter with the caption, ” sarfaroshi kī tamanna ab hamare dil mein hai dekhna hai zor kitnā baazu-e-qatil mein hai #Lahore #faizfestival2019.”

Many Indian media organizations also covered this.

“With ‘Sarfaroshi ki Tamanna’ on their lips, Lahore students’ protest at Faiz Festival goes viral, the headline of Indian Express article read.

The above information proves that the video is from Pakistan and hence the claim is false.
