Opposition misleading nation on CAA: PM Modi in RS

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday addressed the Rajya Sabha while replying to the ‘Motion of Thanks’ on the President’s address listed out the achievements of his government and targeted the opposition on a variety of issues.

The Prime Minister said that the opposition was misguiding the entire nation on the issue of CAA and this was unfortunate.

The Prime Minister said:

1. He has a new vision to develop India, whereas the opposition was still struck in the past and hadnt moved on to embrace new India.

2. The ill-informed comments by some MP’s on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir is disappointing. The Parliament has supported various initiatives of the government in this regard, overwhelmingly.

3. Democracy was upheld during the time of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, but failed miserably during the tenure of Dr Manmohan Singh, when the state of Telengana was created in the most violent manner.

4. It was only after the abrogation of Article 370 that the state of Jammu and Kashmir got various benefits such as reservation, RERA and BDC polls which infused grass root democracy into the state.

5. The good times of the separatists and terrorists have ended in the former state of J&K.

6. The situation of the BRU tribe in Tripura was pitiable and for decades, this problem wasnt settled. It was this government that took the lead and settled it.

7. Let us not think small. We have to achieve the target of becoming a US $5 Trillion. Let us think of ideas on how to achieve it.

8. The fundamentals of the economy are strong and there is no reason for any sort of pessimism.

9. The Indian tourism industry should be developed from an Indian point of view and not from a western point of view.

10. GST has transformed the way business is conducted in India. The opposition is creating unnecessary hurdles in its structure and implementation.

11. Digital payments have also transformed the country. The smallest of the places have adopted digital transactions.

12. It is our target to ensure that access to clean drinking water is given to all households in the country along with other basic facilities.

13. By establishing the Ekkalavaya residential schools, we are making an effort to transform the lives of the tribal kids.

14. It is the opposition who actively evolved the citizenship laws for this country.

15. This is a new India and it will prosper.
